Home made Insect Repellent Candles

 DIY  Summer Insect Repellent Candles : 

 Natural Herbs that repeal insects :  Most grow in my Heb garden !

  • Basil
  • Bay leaves
  • Catnip
  • Ceder
  • Citronella
  • Clover
  • Eucalyptus
  • Garlic
  • Lavender
  • Lemon grass
  • Mint
  • Pennyroyal
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme

Supplies Needed: 

Candle wax or leftover wax from candles . That can be re Melted in the microwave or on top of stove in double boiler. 
 Container : you can use glass mason  jars but I use a can (cleaned/label removed) 
 Wick for you candle ( make sure it fits container) 
Essential oils from the list above. You can also add some into the wax. 

Make sure any cooking items used in candle making is kept separate from your cooking  items. Stay safe - Wax is hot !!! So be careful while working with it. 

Directions : 

After getting container ready. Attach wick to middle of can (glue dot works) brace it at the top so it stays centered. (use 2 chopsticks/tape to middle) 

Melt the Wax - I use old scraps and melt slowly in the microwave in a container I use for that . (like melting chocolate). Careful  remove & add essential oil and herbs. 

Carefully Pour into harden. About 24 hours but may depend on weather. 

These make great gifts when invited to a Summer party or BBQ. Decorate for the event or decor.
