Three Wise Men Visit *

Sunday : Dec 23  Fourth Sunday  of Advent :

The Wise men Came :

Now hafter Jesus was born in iBethlehem of Judea jin the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men1 from kthe east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born lking of the Jews? For we saw mhis star when it rose2 and have come to nworship him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where othe Christ was to be born. They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet:

p“ ‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for from you shall come a ruler
who will qshepherd my people Israel.’ ”
Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.” After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. 11 And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, rthey offered him gifts, sgold and tfrankincense and umyrrh. 12 And vbeing warned win a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

Sunday * Digital Scrapbooking Words of Faith

Welcome to my Sunday's  Digital  * Words of Faith :

On Sunday I share bible verses, bible journaling   and cards : Today in honor of advent Sunday the Journey continues with my page highlighting this announcement :

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

My page is made with the kit call Glad Tidings  https://www.mymemories.com/store/display_product_page?id=MBDD-CP-1812-153377

You can find more at her Facebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/MooreBlessingsDigitalDesign

A sign to you . . . a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. An angel of God had already appeared with the announcement of Jesus’ birth. Shortly in this passage, a heavenly host will light up the Judean skies and will fill the air with their praise (vv. 13-14). What further need is there for a sign? One is tempted to see God’s sense of humor here: an infant who was supposed to be the Messiah born in a feeding trough!
The sign was not merely to help the shepherds find the Baby. Luke does not tell us how the shepherds were to find the right manger; presumably, there were hundreds of them. The point of the sign is to confirm to them that this One is indeed the promised Messiah. The shepherds could have been easily disappointed with the primitive conditions of this birth. Here was the Messiah born in surroundings strangely familiar to them--a manger. Could it be that the Messiah was at home with lowly shepherds rather than emperors and kings?

Christmas Tree shopping *

Christmas Tree Shopping :

History of the Christmas tree-

The evergreen fir tree has traditionally been used to celebrate winter festivals (pagan and Christian) for thousands of years. Pagans used branches of it to decorate their homes during the winter solstice, as it made them think of the spring to come. ... Christians use it as a sign of everlasting life with God.

In 2004, Pope John Paul called the Christmas tree a symbol of Christ. This very ancient custom, he said, exalts the value of life, as in winter what is evergreen becomes a sign of undying life, and it reminds Christians of the "tree of life" of Genesis 2:9, an image of Christ, the supreme gift of God to humanity.

My tree page made with https://www.mymemories.com/store/display_product_page?id=TMTM-MI-1612-117557

These pictures are from our tree shopping when we lived in Michigan.  This is a neighboring farm that we always got our trees from. He grew many types  but Canaan Fir was always our choice to buy. So off the walk the farm, pick out a tree ,saw it down and tie it to the roof of the car. Good thing we lived close bye to the farm.  Lisa

Tree Fact :

(Abies Balsamea) has many similarities to both the Fraser and the balsam fir in growth and appearance, as it offers the wonderful bouquet of a balsam fir combined with the beauty of a Fraser fir. The needles have a beautiful green topside, and a silver/white underside. Canaan fir grow in soils too wet to grow Fraser fir or Douglas fir. In addition, Canaan fir has a later bud break, reducing damage from late spring frosts. It is a beautiful tree that will gain importance in the years to come.

The Symbols of Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah !

Today is the second day of  Hanukkah  - and I am celebrating with this digital page from https://store.gingerscraps.net

Kit from Mags Graphics @ https://store.gingerscraps.net/Hanukkah-Lights-ELEMENTS-by-MagsGraphics.html

 The  Menorah :

In the second century BCE, the Holy Land was ruled by the Seleucids (Syrian-Greeks), who tried to force the people of Israel to accept Greek culture and beliefs instead of mitzvah observance and belief in G‑d. Against all odds, a small band of faithful Jews, led by Judah the Maccabee, defeated one of the mightiest armies on earth, drove the Greeks from the land, reclaimed the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and rededicated it to the service of G‑d.
When they sought to light the Temple's Menorah (the seven-branched candelabrum), they found only a single cruse of olive oil that had escaped contamination by the Greeks. Miraculously, they lit the menorah and the one-day supply of oil lasted for eight days, until new oil could be prepared under conditions of ritual purity.

  Family Traditions

While family traditions vary, most people observing Hanukkah feast on potato pancakes called latkes. Frying the latkes in oil is reminiscent of the oil that miraculously burned for eight days. Some like to dip their latkes in either sour cream or applesauce.
For festivities involving children, it’s customary for family and friends to gather around and play a game of dreidel. Each player is given equal game pieces, which are often pieces of chocolate gelt or coins but can be any small item. At the beginning of each round, players put one piece into the “pot.” Then, players take turns spinning the dreidel and following the instructions of each of the four sides
